Summer Solstice

“Summertime is always the best of what might be.”
― Charles Bowden

We did not gather formally, to celebrate the summer Solstice with an assembly line for these beloved flower crowns like last year, but we did decide - rather last minute - to meet at a nearby lake and spend the day by the water with the kids. We skipped naps, we ditched house cleaning, and decided on a careless afternoon to welcome the official start of our favorite season.

The flowers I snagged on the way, wild beauties in the field near our home which turned out pretty decent I'd say.

After the sun, and the flowers, and the snacks, we sat on the porch and watched the rest of the afternoon slip by.

Tonight the boys are all very exhausted, our bbq is through and I am waiting on a round of margaritas, a fire, and hopefully a good movie.

Our summer plans aren't fancy, but we are looking forward to plenty more days. And nights,  exactly like these.

Happy Solstice,
J
